Jonathan Brett is a Canadian born classical guitarist and composer, living in
Southwestern Ontario. Classically trained at the University of Windsor, he began his
career as a performer in 2003, playing to well over five thousand audience members
throughout his area. While studying and performing, Jonathan began honing his skills as
a writer and composer, producing works for solo guitar and various chamber ensembles.
He has composed works performed by the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, and was an
active contributor to the Windsor Canadian Music Festival, where his music was
performed and critiqued by some of Canada’s most prominent art music composers. This
formal experience, coupled with his love of pop/rock music styles, has produced a unique
sound in his music, described as a blend of classical guitar technique and pop music
melody and song structure. His music combines the sophistication of classical art music
with the accessibility of pop styles, creating a fusion sound aimed at evoking an
emotional response and connecting with his audience.
